In Over My Head
On Monday, I promised a friend--who happens to be a director--that I would write a script for him by 9 September 2005 with an outline in his hands by next Friday.
So I have but on idea on how to start: I have J. Michael Straczynski's book on scriptwriting.
Much as I would not have expected myself to write this genre of film, I've found my first idea fits "romantic comedy" pretty well.
A few questions for anyone that reads this, then:
- Do you like romantic comedies? (Keep going even if you don't)
- What do you like about romantic comedies?
- What do you dislike about romantic comedies?
- What makes a romantic comedy "great" as opposed to just "good"?
- What do you hate to see in a romantic comedy?
Does this sound like a ridiculous venture? Sure it does. There are 50,000 scripts floating around Hollywood looking for someone to pick them up. I have a 1 in 140,000 chance of actually having something I write turned into a film.
It's not about having something turned into a picture, though it'd be a nice bonus. It's more about me no longer sitting on my ass about writing or about doing something that I'd love to do rather than doing nothing for fear of succeeding.
