Okay, out

Okay, turn those couple of days into a couple of weeks. Not long after I posted my last entry, the motherboard died altogether and I had to send the laptop back to the manufacturer for repair. Not sure when I will get it back, but there's supposed to be a ten business day turnaround and it's only been seven or eight days so far.

Can't wait to get my computer back.

(Oh, this means I'm not seeing my email in a particularly timely manner.)

Down. but not out

Been out of commission the past couple of days with a laptop computer problem where my kernel (Mac OS X is based on a BSD UNIX kernel) has been panicking regularly. While it usually panics shortly after login and before the desktop is fully rendered, I've had it occur at the login screen, too. Normally, with a full kit up and out, I would probably have backed everything up to another hard drive and wiped the laptop's drive and reinstalled, but everything I have is packed in boxes right now so I've been looking for alternatives. Probably going to grab myself a FireWire drive to make this process simpler (and make for easier backups in the future).
