In the cards

What's in your wallet? In mine, I have this idea that I want to try, but I'm not sure how to do it. In it, I see revamping the layout of this site, but the problem is balancing what the artistic vision in my head wants and what I can actually pull off given the limitations of HTML (and associated scripting, etc) and my ability to rassle it into some semblence of an orderly herd.

This here site, she's a bunch of cats.

My first thoughts were to go art deco. I really liked the visuals and it would have been interesting to have something that looked like the steel latticework of a building up the right side and some industrial smokestacks on the left with steel beams and panes of glass being raised up the middle, but the thought of trying to partition out that table just made my head spin. Not to mention that I'd have to find a way to make something look like steel beams and smokestacks.

So I'm looking for other things. Something similar to the visual look of Cider Jack or the old Metrowerks' Codewarrior box designs, maybe. Or maybe something themed over Kitchen Stadium. Now there's an idea...

Ultimately, though, it comes down to the fact that I don't have a lot of time. I don't know where people can find time to post to their blogs all day, especially with the kind of depth and consideration that you might find at ***Dave's blog. I find that some days, I'm just too busy to think, and others, I'm too bored to do the same. It's a little frustrating because I had really wanted to use this blog to write more, to explore those thoughts, ideas, and opinions (many half-formed) that float around my head.

In short, I think I'm just hurting for more artistic outlets to express my creativity. That's not something I can necessarily get at work, since it's a different brand of creativity there, lodged in problem solving. Yeah, part of me cries for my little Muse to come back and remind me that there was a time when "art" wasn't how I arranged numbers on a page or the way I twitch my fingers to make electricity flow and make a thin, constrained membrane sing.

But I want to hold onto this little demon I have trapped in a bottle that helps me do the black magic, too.

On second thought, maybe I'd be better off just getting some sleep.
