One Last Sandwich
An odd thought that popped into my head today as the lunch hour started to creep around: If you could have one sandwich -- any sandwich, made by whoever you wanted to make it -- but this would be the last sandwich you would ever eat, what would it be?
Originally, I thought of some of the best sandwiches I've had, like a roast turkey on a toasted kaiser with alfalfa sprouts and avocado back at Ruloff's in Collegetown in Ithaca. Or the T-Sui from the Hot Truck, also from my college days. I waxed nostalgic of the first time I had a Woody Allen (pastrami and corned beef) at Carnegie Deli. I thought of the mortadella and mozzarella on semolina from Lisa's Deli just down the street from my apartment, that I've bought practically every time I've gone in there. I've had a few great sandwiches, a lot of mediocre ones, and more crappy ones than I care to remember, but...
If it were the last sandwich I was ever going to have, I'd want it to be a peanut butter (creamy) and jelly (strawberry) on white bread, with the crust.
And I'd want Elvis to make it.
